Uncharted Frontier Services leads multidisciplinary R&D teams on high-risk, high-reward technology programs aimed at the U.S. government’s most challenging problems.
How We Work
We are passionate about solving today’s hard problems, but we are always thinking ahead to the grand challenges of tomorrow so we stay ahead of them instead of reacting to them. Our work is a loop, with transition partners involved from problem definition through technology transition.
1Discover the problems
We talk to experts at the frontier of their domains to understand what the next generation of hard, unsolved problems is going to be. We then work with former ARPA research program managers to turn these into right-sized, ARPA-hard research program concepts.
2Perform the research
We team with Uncharted Labs as performers on the research programs that we helped define, building new relationships and partnerships along the way that broaden our capabilities and our perspective.
3Deliver the last mile
We carry technology that we develop through the research programs into operation, including transition into sensitive environments.
4Find the next frontier
Our research and our operational transitions give us grounded insight into where the problem frontier is moving. Those insights feed the next round of problem discovery, and the loop begins again.
